Trey Seven Months Old

::TREY::
Clothes - 12 month onesies, 18 month jammies, 12-18 month clothes
Diapers - Size 4

Trey Man is still as happy as ever.  He sleeps 9pm-9am.  I was going to start putting him to bed at 8pm and hope he'd go 8pm-8am, but I love having two hours of one on one time each night with him (since the triplets go to bed at 7pm).  His schedule just kind of works right now, so I'm not changing anything yet.  I no longer swaddle him.  He'd break out of his swaddle and roll on to his belly after an hour and sleep all night, so I just let him.  He prefers his tummy now - which is crazy because he used to HATE it.  At naps and bedtime I just lay him on his tummy, put a light blanket over him, and he falls to sleep on his own.  Trey loves to suck on his blanket while he sleeps.  When I get him out of his crib his blanket is all wet.  It's so funny.  It's like a little comfort thing now.  When he starts to get tired or fussy I'll hand him his blanket and he'll calm down and just sit and suck on it.

Trey is so strong!  He loves his exersacuer, johnny jumper, bumbo, and bouncy seat.  I just kind of rotate him through each of those throughout the day.  He loves to sit in his bumbo and watch me do dishes or clean up the kitchen.  He reaches for anything and everything around him and brings it right to his mouth.  He rolls around to get to what he wants.  He has his two bottom teeth (bottom R came in Jan 23) and one coming in on the top.  His hair is starting to get a little wavy.  If I put a little lotion in it - it will curl a little more.  Trey smiles ALL. DAY. LONG.  I was trying to get a serious picture of him, but he kept flashing his cute little smile at me.  He arches his back and laughs.  He does this belly laugh that is to die for!  We all love it.  Cruz and Kash are learning to "be soft" and will pet Trey's head and give him kisses.  They still occasionally smack him, but not nearly as often.

Trey is still great in the car - opposite of the triplets.  We haven't really gone anywhere far lately, but he's great on the short trips we make all day.  The car calms him down.  He gets a little fussy at church - since we skip his morning nap and it runs into his afternoon nap.  He's so used to falling asleep in his crib that he has a hard time falling asleep on me since there are all these distractions around.  So occasionally I'll put him in his carseat and drive around during Sunday school and he'll fall right to sleep.  Probably not the best way to spend the second hour of church, but it works.  Trey still LOVES bath time and has found a new love for swings.  We have the cutest little park right by our house that we visit almost daily.  Oh man...we just love this little (big) guy!

Valentine's Day

My cute little Valentine's.
Trey's first time in the swings - I'm pretty sure he liked it.

How is Trey so big?!
These snacks lasted 2 minutes in the cup...then got dumped ALL over the couch.

Curtis planned a little weekend getaway for Valentine's Day.  My mom approached Curtis a few weeks ago and told him they could babysit that weekend and then left it up to him to plan it all out.  He wrote me a poem/love note Friday morning.  It was the sweetest thing!  Then gave me an itinerary saying I won a 2 night weekend getaway to Newport Beach.  He had it all planned out.  My stomach originally sank.  I wondered who was going to watch my kids and how I was going to leave all my babies...  Once I knew my parents were coming for the weekend I felt A LOT better and was excited!  It's kind of funny because we seriously followed his itinerary to a T.  It was such a fun weekend filled with massages, pedicures, bike ride on the beach, Cafe Rio, Cheesecake Factory, movies, frozen yogurt, etc.  It was perfect!  We had time to reconnect and actually talk with each other.  I feel like after I put Trey to bed at 9pm, wash my face, brush my teeth, throw a load of laundry in - I'm ready for bed.  We don't have time to really just sit and talk with each other.  It was perfect timing.  I think every couple needs a little getaway at least once or twice a year.  I'm so thankful my parents were willing to sacrifice their Valentine's weekend to watch all my kiddos.

 View from our hotel.  :)  That's my kind of view.
 I love how much my kids love their Grandma!
I came home to this amazing homemade gift from Curtis.  I absolutely LOVE it!  He did good.  He always does good.

22 Months

I can't believe my babies are almost two years old!  I wanted to write a few things about them so I can look back and remember this whirlwind :)

::CRUZ::
Cruz has had the hardest time with the transition to one nap.  He gets tired and fussy right around 10am.  I try and distract him with toys, treats, going outside...whatever...until 12pm.  Then he'll only sleep for a couple hours and wake up tired and fussy.  I think his body is still adjusting (or at least that's what I'm telling myself).  Hopefully he starts sleeping a little longer and perking up to his normal happy self.
Cruz loves to push things.  His favorite toys right now are this tractor thing that he pushes around and his shopping cart.  He also plays with his kitchen and tool bench a lot too.  He loves to play catch and throw balls to me.  You can already tell he's going to have a good arm.  He's started to play fetch a lot more with Tyson.  Cruz also loves to be held and read books.  He's not really interested in the TV, but he does love playing on Grandma's iPad.  He has started hitting - especially if one of his siblings takes his toy.  He's learning what time-out is.  Haha..

::KASH::
Kash is Mr. Smarty Pants.  I'm not sure if he's super smart or the other two are just behind haha...  He catches on so quick to things.  I have this toy with colored pegs that you have to match the colored pieces to each peg.  I dumped it out and he immediately put the blue piece on the blue peg.  I thought it was a coincidence, but then he put the yellow piece on the yellow peg and the red piece on the red peg.  What the heck?  I didn't even teach him how to do it, he just did it.  There were a few times he'd start to put the yellow piece on the red peg, then stop and look up at me until I said "no", then he'd put it on the yellow peg.  Cruz and Julie just put any piece on any peg.  It's kind of funny.  Kash looks at them like, "What are you guys doing?"  Kash also knows how to match shapes to their hole.  He doesn't even look at the piece, it's like he feels it and knows where it should go.  Cruz is getting a little better at this now, but Julie still tries to shove the square in the circle hole.
Kash loves being held and reading books.  He'll go grab a book then back up in my lap.  He also loves the push toys like Cruz - the tractor, stroller, and shopping cart.  He plays with his kitchen and tool bench too.  He's also started hitting, especially when someone takes his toys.  Kash is a little more sensitive.  When he gets disciplined he'll go cry and hide behind the curtain.  Kash is learning a lot of new words lately.  He can say thank you, mama, dada, baby, doggie (which sounds like dog dog), ball, shoes, book, poo poo, more, etc.  A few days ago he came up to me and gave me a diaper and said "poo poo".  He really did poop and wanted me to change him.  It was pretty funny.  Cruz and Kash basically say all the same words, but Julie doesn't.  She can only say mama, dada, and thank you.  She just babbles her own language all day long.  Both boys still suck their ring finger while they sleep.  I would never know unless I had a video monitor - and you can also tell because their ring finger nail looks different than all the others.

::JULIE::
Julie had the easiest time transitioning to one nap.  I think she was ready last month, but I just kept doing two naps since the boys weren't ready at all.  She is so chill and happy.  She doesn't whine or cry near as often as the boys.  She still has her moments, but overall is so happy.  She like to play by herself so the boys don't steal her toys.  She doesn't hit or pull hair like the boys.  If her toy is stolen she'll either cry for a minute or just start playing with something else.  When she's sad she'll cry and cover her mouth with one hand.  It's so cute.  Julie still loves her little rags while she sleeps.  She'll grab hold of it and start sucking her thumb,  She sticks the whole corner in her mouth with her thumb and sucks on the rag too.  Julie LOVES being outside.  She could sit and play with dirt, rocks, and sticks all day long.  She screams when it's time to go back inside.  I'm so thankful we live in California and can spend 90% of our days outside.
Julie is by far my best eater.  She'll try anything!  They boys have started this thing where they won't even open their mouths to try a new food, even if it's super good.  I have to like force it in and then they realize they like it and they'll come back for more.  Sometimes the boys, especially Cruz, will chew something up for a while, and then spit it out, but Julie never really does that.

January Update

January has been one of the hardest months in my entire parenting career haha..  Seriously.  Harder than bringing home three newborns and waking up every two-three hours to feed them.  It started off on December 31st when Cruz got sick.  He woke up in the middle of the night with a fever.  We gave him Tylenol and put him back to bed.  The next morning he was SO fussy and just wanted to be held all day.  You could tell he didn't feel well and probably had body aches because he just never seemed comfortable or happy, even when he was held.  He got a really bad cough too.  He would just fuss and cry.  He wouldn't eat anything all day.  I was so grateful Curtis was still home on vacation and could help me out.  Then a couple days later it hit Julie and Kash also.  Holy hell!  It was miserable.  They were extremely fussy babies who all wanted my attention and wanted to be held, but even when they were held they were fussy.  I couldn't get them to eat anything at all.  They would drink a little water or gatorade and maybe eat a few crackers.  Oh my gosh.  I can't even put into words how hard the next ten days were.  From the moment they woke up until the moment they went to sleep they were crying and fussing and wanted me or Curtis.  Trey got sick too, but he was still pretty happy.  He just got a bad cough and stuffed nose which caused him to have trouble breathing at night.  I couldn't get anything done.  My house looked like a tornado had come through.  My mind was going crazy from hearing crying and whining ALL day long.  I couldn't go anywhere.  I was used to going to the gym everyday and putting the kids in daycare, but I couldn't bring the sickness anywhere else.  I swear on the next 24 series - Jack Bauer is going to torture some criminal with sick triplets fussing and crying all day.  It was horrible.  I took them to the Dr. and he thought it was a virus that would just run it's course.  He said it could have been the real Influenza (we got the flu shot, but I guess it didn't work this year) but there was no use testing for it since there's no treatment besides managing the symptoms with Tylenol or Motrin.  Oh man.  They are finally back to their normal selves!!   Thank goodness.

This month I have also started to transition the triplets to one nap.  While they were sick they DEFINITELY needed two naps a day, but once they got over it they were struggling with that second nap.  They would sleep 9:20-11:20am (or later) great, but then when I tried to put them back down from 2-4pm some days they would sleep well and other days they would fight it.  I knew it was time, but it has been a hard transition.  My goal was 12-3pm, but trying to keep them up to 12 was impossible.  They would get fussy right around 10am every day, and then when I would put them down at noon they would only sleep an hour or two and then wake up cranky.  Their bodies were trying to get used to this new change.  Some days I felt like they needed two, so I'd let them, but then it would back fire with only one or two sleeping.  It was so hard.  One day Julie would be extra tired, then the next day it was Cruz.  They were on different schedules and it was killing me.  I needed to just bite the bullet and switch to one nap cold turkey for them all.  It's been a couple weeks now and I think they are starting to get used to it.
 She LOVES being outside all day everyday.  I'm so grateful for the semi-warm weather out here in CA.
 Kush came over and tried to give Trey his book...
 then gave him hugs...
 and kisses...  It was the sweetest thing.

 Cruz wanted to join in on the hugging party.  One minute they are hugging and kisses Trey, and the next minute they are slapping his face. I have to always be close by.

 Happiest little stink.

 My bathroom buddies.
 She's a little obsessed with Frozen!  It's her new fav.
 Cruz is one hilarious dude.  He thought he was so funny.
 Two little teefers popping through.
 Snuggle time.
 I can't believe I have a 6 month old.
 Look at that bum.  Pretty much the cutest thing!
 More snuggles from Kash.
 And kisses.
 Of course Cruz has to join in.
 They are too much.

 It's been SO foggy here.  Ca-razy! I finally understand what all the fuss was about the Tule Fog.
She was so proud of herself.  Got every last bit off the roll.  Haha..
